The Andrew Bailey Memorial Fundraiser Auction HouseRoughly a month ago, on March 15, a truly horrible thing happened to one of our close friends in the Kingdom of Loathing community, Aces44 (Merrily Melson). She was attacked with an axe by her significant other, who then murdered their son Andrew. Merrily escaped and called the police, and the perpetrator has been arrested and charged.A more detailed report on what happened can be found here. Beyond the obvious emotional toll that this event has taken on her, Aces is also in dire financial need, due to mounting medical, funeral, and other expenses. As you might imagine, financial pressure is the very last thing she needs at the moment. Those of us who have known Aces for years would like to ask the community for help in getting her back on her feet. To that end, we will be hosting a number of silent auctions for special merchandise on this site -- some real items, and some rare virtual items from the Kingdom of Loathing game. These auctions will start on April 12, with all auctions scheduled to end no later than April 30. See the FAQ page for information on auction logistics and other useful info. We also encourage any of you who are able to donate whatever you can spare directly to Aces. Her family has set up a memorial fund for Andrew, which you can send money to as follows: Go to your local bank, and they can wire funds to the memorial account at the El Dorado Savings Bank. Your bank will need the account number of Andrew Bailey's Memorial Fund (263004173) and the El Dorado Savings Bank's routing number -- 321170978. For wires, use El Dorado Savings Bank's main office address which is: 4040 El Dorado Rd. Placerville, CA 95667. Should you need any assistance, please call 800-874-9779 and request the El Dorado Hills Branch. You can also send money directly to Merrily via PayPal. Her PayPal account is: merrily(at)wholesomegoodies(dot)net. PLEASE NOTE: This address should only be used for direct donations. Do not send payment for auction lots to this address. See the FAQ page for information on how to send payment for an auction lot. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you!
